ROCO was proud to attend SMOPYC 2026, the 20th International Exhibition of Public Works, Construction, and Mining Machinery, that took place from April 15–18, 2026, at the Feria de Zaragoza (Zaragoza Exhibition Centre) in Zaragoza, Spain. Alongside our trusted partners Grupo DIR, marking another successful chapter in our continued growth across the European market.
Representing ROCO on the ground were Shane Connolly and Dariusz Lawniczak, who spent the week engaging with customers, partners, and industry professionals from across the globe.
This year’s edition of SMOPYC surpassed expectations, welcoming an impressive 62,124 visitors—an increase on last year and a clear signal of the industry’s continued momentum. What stood out most was not just the volume, but the quality of attendees. Visitors to the stand were highly knowledgeable, technically focused professionals, making for meaningful conversations and strong potential opportunities.
Grupo DIR delivered an exceptional presence at the show, hosting one of the largest and most professional stands in Hall 7. As ROCO’s exclusive dealer in Spain, DIR showcased an impressive lineup featuring LiuGong, ROCO, and Rokbak.
Their investment and commitment were clear—not only in the scale of the stand but in the strength of their team. With around 20–22 sales managers representing regions across Spain, DIR ensured comprehensive coverage and engagement throughout the event.
Special recognition goes to David Iglesias and his son Sergio Iglesias, whose family-led business continues to set the benchmark for professionalism and partnership. It was a proud moment to capture a photo together at such a successful event.
A key highlight of the stand was the dedicated “DIR-Quarry” area, where visitors could see ROCO machinery in a realistic working setup. On display were the open circuit ICON 1100 and the SPRINTER 1500—both fully electric solutions designed to meet the demands of modern, sustainable operations.
These machines were perfectly complemented by the all-electric LiuGong 870HE Wheel Loader, which was showcased feeding the ICON 1100. This combination demonstrated a powerful, fully electric crushing and screening setup—something that drew significant attention throughout the show.
Both the ROCO Sprinter and ICON generated strong interest from visitors, reinforcing the growing demand for efficient, hybrid and electric crushing and screening solutions. The level of engagement reflected the technical standard of the audience and highlighted the relevance of ROCO’s offering in today’s market.
We were also delighted to welcome the owner of the first SPRINTER machine to enter the Spanish market. Having purchased the unit in late 2024, it was fantastic to hear firsthand how satisfied they are with their ROCO investment.
In addition, we met with the owners of the ICON machine on display, which is set to begin operations within the next 1–2 weeks—an exciting milestone and a testament to the momentum building in the region.
On the third day of the exhibition, Dariusz Lawniczak delivered a presentation to an international Austrian-Spanish Montessori class, offering insight into ROCO’s machines and the future of crushing and screening technology. It was a unique and rewarding opportunity to engage with the next generation and share our passion for innovation in the industry.
Overall, SMOPYC 2026 proved to be an extremely positive experience for ROCO. The quality of visitors, strength of partnerships, and level of interest in our machines made it a standout event on the calendar.
A huge thank you to Grupo DIR for their exceptional work, professionalism, and continued partnership. Together, we are building something strong in Spain—and SMOPYC 2026 was a clear reflection of that.
